Sexy. Now I know what to toss into my tertiary gaming machine.
Anyone have any good reviews of the 8500s compared to the 7XXX series?

Now, i'm assuming these are all going to outperform my 7600GT. Though, i think im going to wait until AMD releases theirs and we get a little competition going

i guess i was expecting too much from these things....nicely priced tho, but just comparable to a 7900gt? i'll pass on these, ETA on the 8900s or the 8800 ultra anyone?

Ouch...performance is quite lackluster..
http://www.guru3d.com/article/Videocards/426/1

The GTS can't even beat out a X1950Pro. At higher resolutions it only performs a few FPS better than the 7600GT:
http://www.legitreviews.com/article/486/1/

Even worse, performance is ON PAR with the X1650 PRO in some cases and that is for the overclocked edition:
http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/nvidia_geforce_8600_gts_preview/page12.asp

Damn...what a train wreck......

8800 GTS 320mb gives much better performance even considering its higher price.

I was expecting a bigger performance increase from a 7600GT to the 8600GT, according to the Guru3d review it was only about 15%...I was thinking it would be 25-35% (at least). Looks like the 7900GS is still a nicer price/performance card for the nVidia fans (at least for now).

Personally, I think these cards are quite sad when you take into account the pricing. These cost more than the 7900GS / X1950Pro but those two cards walk all over the 8600-series in benchmarks.

IMO, Nvidia thinks DX10 is a license to print money as seems to have put next to zero effort into the performance of these parts. Sure, they might perform well in DX10 but by the time we will find that out, the next generation parts are going to be out.

What a bloody shame.

Shame indeed.. I was hoping the 8600GTS would bring 7900GT performance to the table.

Awesome they're finally out =p

It's really a shame they had to package these with a 128-bit interface and only 256MB RAM. I guess it makes sense that these cards would fall behind at the higher resolutions. The 8600 Ultra that never came through, would have been far more appealing.

What I do like tho... is the nice 'small' size and lower power requirements.

Myself = currently on a 9700 Pro so almost any upgrade is looking good for me lol
I've had my eye on an 8800GTS for a while, but damn, I wish those prices would drop, or these 8600's would be cheaper

Looks like it's best in shader-intensive games like SupCom, Oblivion, and Stalker but more or less the same in other titles. Games are moving towards the shader side these days so it's not as bad as it looks. You just gotta wait for those titles though :(

Don't even mind about the 8500 (Low-End). It's worse than all 7900 and maybe a little more than a 7600GT.

HahaIf THAT isn't badly priced I wonder if you know anything about hardware price. It is in fact extremly overpriced. Anyone getting one of these is super dumb. At the very least wait for Ati's (R610 & R630) to get those or to get the 8600 which will have dropped a lot by then.

I seriously hope you are joking... replacing a good card with something much more expensive and much worse.

Also laught at Asus that gives Stalker with their 8600GTS. A card that will barrely run the game decently enough to enjoy it. From the benchmark of Clubic about Stalker, in every resolution it's about 20fps under the X1950XT which is ~265$ on NCIX.

Overall 8600GTS perform a little under the X1950Pro and 7950GT, mostly when applying filtering (AA, AF) but cost more.

These cards aren't meant for upgrades for previous gens owners. They are replacement cards for new owners with dx10 features.

According to benchmarks... the 8600 is only a tad faster than 7600, but priced like a 7900.

Also, the 8600GTS delivers 40-50% of the performance of the 320MB 8800GTS for 70% of the price.

Not really worth the upgrade from the 7000 lines, should be quite decent upgrade if you still using the 6000 lines though. But, since there's no DX10 game that are out yet, maybe its better to wait.

gah.. technology is repeating itself... just like Geforce FX series... Now we have to wait for X2xxx to come out and stomp all over the 8xxx series, just like the 9xxx series killed the Geforce FX..

Still looks pretty attractive if you're in for a budget system with Vista/Dx10 functions. (Considering the x1950 pro is selling at $250)

When's the ATI lineup set to debut?
